My first attempt at the open cup technique, Swells of a Scared Spirit embodies intense undertoe with its' wave-like ripples of pigment. Red-violet, blue-green and yellow-green are bursting with bubbles from silicone and pulsing like the tide in the multicolored striations. I sought to place the viewer at an edge dangerously close to the abyss, reminiscent of ocean drop offs, and tempt them to ponder: do you dare to go deeper?
