I sought to create curvatures, small waves, and circular strokes. I had previously struggled to create the smoothest and most pronounced curves in palette knife paintings, as my paint did not have the thick heavy body consistency, and the heavy gel gloss cured these issues. It also created smoother transitions in varied high pigment colors, which is why I chose a pastel palette to really push the limits of the additive to see if it would wash out any color. Mermaid’s Bathmat has a gorgeous flowing texture to compliment its dreamy pastel palette of pinks, blues, and greens.
